NSSF and the firearms industry are pleased to celebrate that President Donald Trump has signed of H.R. 1222, the Target Practice and Marksmanship Training Support Act (Public Law No. 116-17). Also known as the "Range Bill," the legislation gives states more flexibility to use Pittman-Robertson funds, an excise tax paid by firearms and ammunition makers, to build new public recreational shooting ranges or improve existing ones. NSSF's Larry Keane said in a press release statement, "The Trump administration understands the value and investment the firearms and ammunition industry make to safe recreational shooting and to sustained conservation to benefit wildlife and habitat restoration across the United States."
