Given the popularity of the M&P9 Shield EZ, it was only a matter of time before Smith & Wesson launched a Performance Center version. The new Performance Center M&P9 Shield EZ, chambered in 9mm, shares the same easy-to-use features found across the entire M&P Shield EZ series but boasts enhanced Performance Center features.

“The Performance Center has the ability to design and manufacture specialty upgrades normally found only in aftermarket work,” says Tony Miele, senior director of new products at the Performance Center. “These new pistols deliver the same easy-to-use features of the standard models, but with the kind of custom upgrades that our customers expect of the Performance Center.”

Built for personal and home protection, the new Performance Center

M&P9 Shield EZ pistols feature an 8+1 round capacity and a 3.8-inch barrel. Other features include a ported Armornite barrel designed to reduce muzzle flip, lightening cuts in the slide for reduced weight, a PC flat-faced black-anodized aluminum trigger, a PC-enhanced black-anodized aluminum grip safety, and an easy-to-rack slide. The pistol also has a PC action and a crisp, lightweight trigger with a tactile and audible trigger reset.

The pistol ships with two 8-round magazines that have a load-assist tab for quick, easy loading, and a Picatinny-style equipment rail that accommodates accessories. The pistol also has an 18-degree optimal M&P pistol grip angle for a natural point of aim, and Hi-Viz Litewave H3 sights. SRP: $588. (smith-wesson.com)
