NSSF reminds all FFLs that use of the ATF’s May 2020 Form 4473 becomes mandatory on Nov. 1. Those retailers who have not yet transitioned from the previous Form 4473 should make immediate plans to do so. ATF also announced, in late August, that ATF’s e4473 application has been revised to the May 2020 ATF Form 4473 and is available for immediate use. To access the e4473 application, please go to atf.gov/firearms/applications-eform-4473-download.

The new form contains significant changes, and NSSF recommends ordering its new Form 4473 overlays, available in both Spanish and English, in the NSSF.org store at nssf.force.com. NSSF also launched its newest SHOT University Online training resource, “Completing the 4473—2020 Version.” Three modules review the critical elements, use, and purpose of the new Form 4473, identify common errors made by both buyers and sellers, and provide remedies for correcting those errors. SHOT University Online training is free and available only to NSSF members. For more information, go to nssf.org.
